Moving back to China once and for all! Thus, you will see much less here, till October. This is my 11th intercontinental move, and they are complicated.
We’re moving back to China, Taiwan Province, hopefully for the last time. It was really funny. I was swimming,
I do aquagym for a couple hours a day, and I was trying in my head while I was doing that to list all of the of my international moves, and I couldn’t do it because there were so many. I got home and I wrote them all down and I couldn’t believe it. This will be my 11th intercontinental move. Throwing in three national ones,
1980, US to Tunisia
82, Tunisia to US.
In 1982, I moved from Oklahoma to California.
Then 1985, US to Algeria.
1986, Algeria to Italy.
1986, back from Italy to Algeria.
1990, Algeria to China.
1997, China to France.
2001, France to US.
2010, USA to China.
Then in 2016, we moved from Beijing down to Shenzhen in China.
2019, China to Thailand.
2020, Thailand to France.
Then in 2023, last year, I moved from Arromanches to Cherbourg inside France.
And now 2024, France back to China!
They’re very complicated. There’s a lot more moving parts that go into an international move than a domestic one. And everybody who is listening to this knows, even moving across town is a pain in the butt. And it just gets more complicated the further you get away, the further you go. Moving inter-continentally, internationally takes it up to the next level in terms of bureaucracy and planning and execution.

I envy you! I was in China for five months before the pandemic, and couldn’t return. China left me astounded!.. the prosperity, the infrastructure, and the lovely people. The experience made me think, “Why didn’t I do this 20 years ago?” Now I am too old to get a work permit to go back there and work.. maybe a visit..

China now offers two-week no-visa visits. If you want to stay longer, go across the border to Hong Kong or Macau, get your passport stamped and go back for another two weeks!

You’re moving back to Taiwan province that’s Taiwan to most people, that’s America’s back door to goad and provoke China isn’t it ? strange place for a Chinaphile to choose rather than the mainland, you sat it’s complicated! Possibly necessary to explain more for confused followers

Taiwan is China, just as much as any other province. I am 70 years old, thus cannot get a resident permit on the Mainland. Taiwan Province does not have age restrictions. We will be short flights away from all over the Mainland.
