Press TV: Jeff Brown is a geopolitical analyst who joins us. Jeff Brown, welcome to the program. If you want to take a look at the way that the US is approaching China, there’s a whole host of issues here, from arming Taiwan, to the most recent visit, for example, from a Pentagon official. Where do you see or how do you see the U.S. down the road when it comes to this issue? And what are we going to see China do in return?
Jeff J. Brown: Well, there’s not a lot that the United States can do except play King Kong, you know, and beat its chest. For example, the United States knows that Beijing has already been providing Moscow with non-lethal assistance for several months, and that it is directly aiding and abetting Russia’s war effort. Blinken even admitted this.
There’s nothing that the United States can do except show Africa and Asia and South America and North America about how powerful they are. Wang Yi in a meeting with Blinken in Munich, said that the strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing is a sovereign right of two independent states, and China would not tolerate finger pointing or even coercion targeting China or Russian relations. So, if Russia asks for aid, military aid, China’s going to provide it and the States cannot do anything to stop it.
Press TV: But at the same time, we know that obviously the U.S. is very sensitive about this. Are we looking at a reaction that would go beyond just sanctions, when it comes to China? Because we know there’s tensions in the South China Sea, for example, and a whole host of issues when it comes to China. Would the U.S. do any moves there?
Jeff J. Brown: They can’t even sanction China because it is the world’s factory. It is the world’s manufacturing powerhouse. It makes everything for the world. It’s the number one economy, since 2014, even the IMF and World Bank said in Purchasing Power Parities, that it has been the biggest economy since 2014.
They tried to, they’re trying to sanction Russia. Nobody’s paying attention. Even the Europeans and Americans are cheating on the Russian sanctions for oil and gas.
And they’re going to try to sanction the world’s manufacturing center? It’s the number one importing economy. It would plunge the world into a global recession or depression.
I sure don’t see anything happening in the South China Sea, because as you and I have already discussed. China’s military is so powerful there. The supply chains from Los Angeles and Seattle to Taiwan and the South China Sea are so long. And the US Navy and military is in such sorry shape, that all they can do is just play King Kong and beat their chest and try to look powerful, and try to look up the omnipotent global cop. I think everybody pretty much understands now that that’s really not very true.
