My Eulogy for Comrade Andre Vltchek, by Jeff J. Brown
When I spent time with Andre Vltchek, it was always an unforgettable experience. It is hard for me to think of another person I know of, who is as morally driven and resolutely principled as he was. Working with Andre, which I did on several occasions, was exhausting – to the point of testing my physical and mental limits.
If I had to compare Andre to some historical person, it would be the great Argentinian freedom fighter Che Guevara. They were both intellectually brilliant and articulate, as writers and speakers. Neither suffered fools lightly. They both burned their candles passionately on the two ends, in life and in revolution, traveling to other countries to support anti-imperialist causes.
In the struggle for socialist justice and communist economic equality to serve the global 99%, Andre and Che both took huge risks with their lives, health and safety. Ultimately, they became martyrs for these noblest of causes.
Like all brothers-in-arms, Andre and I debated forcefully and at times disagreed on some points, which is to be expected among the headstrong on a great mission in life. I would not have wanted it any other way.
Andre Vltchek will always be one of my greatest comrades and friends.
